Answer: In my helpdesk How to Make Money Questions, I get 100s of such emails. All the emails have a similar message.

My answer to all of you:

1. Beware of Scam Sites. Do not pay money to scam sites that promise rewards in thousands of dollars overnight for no work. Do not borrow loans to invest in scam schemes.

2. Begin Learning: You want to earn online but you do not know how. The first thing you need to do is to find out how, learn it thoroughly and do it well. There are many ways of earning online and you need to master each one in the course of time. Start with one way of earning online and then diversify your efforts.

3. Develop Skills and Work for Others: If you do not have money to invest in online ventures, you need to start working for others and begin earning. Part of that money you earn, you can invest to earn more. By working for others you can develop your skills too, as they would tell you what they want you to do. But to make a beginning you have to have some skills to get yourself employment. First start your own blogger blog, get traffic to it and start earning through Google AdSense.

4. Identify Your Skills: So you need some basic skills for others to give you an online job. On what basis will they give you a job? You need to assess your own skills. What are the things you can do well? Can you write good articles? Do you like interacting with people on the social networking sites, yahoo groups or Orkut groups? Are you good at designing, cartooning, photography, video creation? What work are you doing now? Which part of your school/college study or present job skill you can share with others?

5. Sell Yourself: Write a brief summary of your skills and abilities and advertise your talent for others to recruit you. Send me your write-ups to post on this blog, post it on places such as Craiglist.com, elance.com, naukri.com, monster.com and so on. When you are applying for an online job do not prepare the usualy resume with how much you scored in your highschool. Nobody bothers about it. Write about what you have done online so far, how many hours you can be available online and what type of work you are ready to learn, ready to do… Say something about your sincerity, your ability to stick to jobs and complete them and your honesty in keeping things confidential.

6. Learn on Job: While doing a job for someone learn everything possible in that job. Do not fulfill job requirements as a chore to be completed to get paid. Use it as an opportunity to learn and remember eventually you want to be on your own. Seize every opportunity to learn and take yourself one step ahead of where you are now.

7. Invest Part of Your Earning: You must set aside part of your earning for investment. You need not buy all the products that come along. But you need basic things such as domain name, webspace, a wordpress blog, etc. You may need a website builder that is easy to use, if you want to have many websites. The first thing to do is to save part of your earning and prepare yourself to take care of your future needs.

8. Plan Your Steps: I suggest you start a blogger blog on a product you want to sell later. You should always think of your end result, the result you desire for yourself and plan backwards to get to where you are now. At present you do not have money, you do not know how to earn online and you do not have a business. But think of what kind of business you would like to have online. Suppose I give you a magic wand and you can have anything you want - what kind of a business will you dream for yourself. Visualize that clearly. What do you want to see yourself doing in about 10 years from now? Now plan backwards - what are the steps needed to get you there.. Continue planning till you reach where you are now.

9. Implement Plans Immediately: Start implementing your plans. There are many who can make great plans but they never reach anywhere. That is because they do not take action. Right after reading this article what is one thing you can do to start yourself on your pursuit? Whether you want to make money online or achieve something else there are 100s of tips available online. But the questions remain the same.

Start right away. Set your goal. Visualize what you want to see yourself doing in 10 years time from now. Plan backwards and take the first step right now!
