Blog Traffic Burns a Hole in My Time

March 29th, 2008 · 6 Comments · Blog Traffic, Free Resources

10 Ways I want to save time on getting targeted visitors to my blogs

1. Time is Precious Don’t Hover Around Worthless Sites

We have to carefully consider what we spend our time on. We can earn any amount of money but we cannot earn more hours to add to the day. This should prove to us that time is more precious than money.

So I am for those traffic generation tactics that get us targeted traffic by spending as little time as possible.

Someone creates a list of social sites I can go to and bookmark and anther one comes up with a bigger list to show that he has more and this goes on.

I use a free tool Social Marker. But I will not be able to interact and socialize on 40 odd sites.

I will just choose a handful of sites and focus my energy on them. If my site is about internet marketing it is better to bookmark in networking sites such as Sphinn and PlugIM. Jack Humphrey’s Web2.0 Submitter supports PlugIM and makes it easy to bookmark. Web20 submitter is free for ASC Members.

For other niche sites it is better to focus on one or two good sites where the people are genuinely interested in the niche topic. This you can find out by most voted items and most popular sites, etc.

2. Select and Submit to One Time Submission Networks

I have joined Blog Rush. It is a one time sign up. I submit my blog and add their widget to my blog. if they approve it and add it to the network I earn credits and my blog is syndicated in the network. For the last 30 days I have earned 60,187 credits.

After adding it to the network and putting up the widget on my blog, I need not do anything more. I get others to sign up under me and earn more credits.

Once it is part of the network I can find ways of improving my blog posts, tweaking the title etc. so that more people click on it and visit my blog. I focus my energy on my blog and the traffic part is taken care of through that one time submission.

3. Automate As Much As Possible

I have a good ping list and my posts are pinged automatically by WordPress to a large number of sites. Feedburner optimization takes care of part of the work.

Andrew Hansen’s FirePow, Alvin Phang’s Automic Blogging, etc. take care of pinging social sites too.

I just do the post and the services are pinged so I don’t have to do anything manually to announce my post.

4. Save Time On Essential Submissions

Submit Express submits your sites to a whole range of directories. you just submit once and you receive information from all the other directories where your site has been submitted. Tools such as Brad Callen’s article submitter and directory submitter also save time by storing your data and automatically filling in the details for each directory.

5. Create a Loyal List of Subscribers

Most of the time we hear complaints that the traffic from social bookmarking sites are not the type that click on your ads or buy your affiliate products. They come and go. I feel it is better to have a valuable report or product and develop a list of loyal subscribers who are ready to listen to me. This way I am working on my blog rather than outside it roaming around 1000s of bookmarking sites. I use my precious time to create more valuable products for the subscribers and convert them into buyers.

6. Create a Separate Viral Report for the Subscribers to Share and Earn

I should create two reports. One to give away to subscribers for signing up with me and another for the subscribers to brand and give away and earn some money. This way I am focusing my time and energy on my topic and I still get visitors to my blog.

7. Create a Podcast and Syndicate It

Feedburner has a special feed for podcasts. Jack Humphrey’s Authority Black Book has a list of places where you can submit podcasts. Create once and get repeated visitors over time.

8. Create a Video and Syndicate It Through Video Sharing Sites

Videos again are a one time investment of time and energy. I create them and submit them once and they get me repeated visitors. Jack Humphrey’s Authority Black Book has a list of places where videos can be submitted.

9. Search Engine Optimization

Learn basic search engine optimization tips and improve on page and off page optimization. If my site is on first page of Google for my specific keywords, I get targeted visitors searching for the information I have on my site. These optimization tips can be executed once and benefited from repeatedly.

10. Thoroughly Research Your Niche

Everything depends on the niche we choose. If it is a niche that is searched by 100,000 people everyday, it should not be difficult for me to get 1000s of visitors to my site on a regular basis.

Authority Site Center teaches a thorough market research. The niche is squeezed out thoroughly to ensure that it is a profitable market with lots of buyers.

I have created lots of sites but I missed out on this most important step or I did not do it thoroughly. Then I go and hover around social sites and spend hours in promoting the site to get a trickle of visitors.

Now I plan to save my time and energy by planning my every move in such a way that not a drop of these precious resources are wasted.

I have never seen a blog where the text scrolled like that. Does that inhibit your SEO work, using javascript that is?

I have got a new plugin created and am testing it out in different types of blogs. I don’t think it affects SEO because the text is avaialble for bots to crawl.

Especially for affiliate products this plugin could be very useful. You can see a sample on this blog:

If you click on one of the recent posts you will see how it works with the content and affiliate banner.

I like that. It adds movement to the page and draws people’s attention to the most important part, the content. What is the plugin?

    Hi,

I have to be honest and say that I found the scrolling text a bit off putting at first, but you soon get used to it.

Can the plugin be used for advertising?

I will check back on wednesday for your answer because I’m in the UK and I do not know what time zone you are in.

    All the best

    Costa

I have ads on this page

    http://bestjewellerydesigns.com/jewelry-designs/jewellery-designs/best-jewelry-at-bargain-prices

This plugin is in fact really good for advertising.

In the jewelry blog my emphasis is on the jewelry designs I am displaying.

And the display is very good.
